"For hair dye to work, ammonia literally lifts up your hair cuticle... and peroxide destroys your current color."
Huffington Post News!
If you are indifferent to haircolor that contains ammonia, bleach or really believe it doesn't make a difference - read here: "In order to get the color that you wanted, your current color has to be destroyed," according to Wilson. "That's where the peroxide comes in, and that breaks down your natural hair pigment. Peroxide is very drying on the hair, which contributes to the damage of the hair. Now the cuticle is lifted, your pigment has been broken down, so now your hair should be straw-like."
Stop hating your hair because of it's dryness, breakage, or frizz. The color you choose DOES make a difference. Treat your hair better, treat your body better, treat you better.

2014 Haircutting & Hairstyling Trends
Pretty in Pixies
In case you haven’t seen the hoard of celebrities looking pretty in pixies lately (including Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Emma Watson, etc), then maybe this fact will have you agreeing that the pixie is making an epic comeback…
The search for ‘pixie haircuts’ has increased over 500% this year - wowza!
The search for ‘pixie haircuts’ has increased over 500% this year - wowza!
Seriously, the pixie is one its way to becoming a household name like, “The Rachel.”
Additionally, it’s a super versatile cut – ranging from long and shaggy, to sharp and asymmetrical.
If your clients are unable to commit to the pixie and are still looking for a change, try suggesting an asymmetrical bob. This bob type can come in all shapes and sizes, making it perfect for creating a unique look for your clientele.
This cut allows you to mold different lengths and textures all into one multifaceted hairstyle, giving your client room for flexible styling.
Our favorite celebrities rocking an asymmetrical bob are Karlie Kloss, Frankie Sandford, and Marion Cotillard.
The Wavy Lob
One of our personal favorite hairstyles of 2014, the Lob – aka, the ‘long bob’! Not too long, not too short – this hairstyle is just right! With curls and texture growing in popularity, this is just one of the many voluminous hairstyles to look out for!
For all those natural curlies out there, we envy you!
But, for those of us stuck with stick straight hair or lackluster waves, this may be an option!
The demand for curl-related services is on the rise, and knowing how to create the ‘naturally curly’ look for your clients is a must.
Here are the latest Curl Trends and Techniques for 2014.
P.S. Depending on the size and tightness of your curls, you may have to start out with long hair.
Loose Waves
That tousled, wavy look will still be going strong in 2014! Beach curls, soft waves – you name it – all of these looks will continue to trend.
Great for long or short hair, deep side parts that speak to a more elegant time period will continue to make appearances on the red carpets and in every day hairstyles.

2014 Organic Hair Color Trends are Here!
2014 Hair TrendsGolden Honey
If there is one thing you should take away from this trend report, it’s this: GOLDEN HUES ARE TRENDING!
The warm strands of apricot paired with lighter shades of blonde and light brown will be one of the most coveted looks of 2014.
Similar to it’s Rose Gold cousin, apricot hair color can give you a whole new take on pastels by using your lightest copper gold.
This look can be deepened by pairing darker shades of amber with pieces of gold subtly balayaged or highlighted in. Thank the apricot blonde goddesses, Bella Thorn and Whitney Port, for this one.
Honey Bronde Hair Color
Keeping the golden tone trend strong, honey bronde is the perfect middle ground between blonde and brown.
From the lustrous locks of Vicroria’s Secret model, Giselle Bundchen, to the iconic hair of Jennifer Anniston, this color has proven to be a timeless classic.
Chestnut Brown Hair Color
What makes Chestnut Brown hair color beautiful is its flawless combination of cool and warm brown tones.
These colors can range from the darker shades of Zooey Deschanel to a slighly lighter brown hair color like Rose Byrne. Both colors look great with some toasted walnut highlights interwoven from the mids to ends (for dimension).
Brown Sugar Hair Color
There may be no better model for the brown sugar look than Kim Kardashian and Beyonce. Channeling the warm undertones of their skin and eye color, this a great color selection for those dark brown clients who want to try “going blonde.”
The amount of lightness can controlled by highlight size and placement; however, we recommend the balayage technique mixed with some hand painted pieces.
Chocolate Brown + Caramel Ribbons
You’ll need to turn to your ombre or baylayage technique for this one, as well! One of the most coveted hair trendsfor brunettes in 2014 is rich chocolate brown, paired with caramel or butterscotch highlights.
The rich warm hues of chocolate brown paired with the creamy golden tones of caramel and butterscotch give this look delectable dimension and shine.
Fiery Red Hair Color
Red hair color has seen a steady rise in popularity since 2011. With more and more celebrities opting for luscious red locks, this color trend will continue be on fire in 2014!
Fiery Red Hair color is characterized by it’s deep and dimensional red and violet tones (much less orange than your copper reds).
The secret to red hair color that doesn’t fade is hair health! Keeping the hair’s protein, moisture, and pH levels balanced is optimal for long lasting red hair color.
Deep Auburn Hair Color
Deep Auburn Hair Color
Still coming in hot from fall and winter, the brownish-red strands of the auburn family will be another 2014 hair trend to look out for.
The best subtle highlight for this look will be in your copper red family. The key to creating a fully dimension red is having different slices and highlights throughout the hair.
Copper Penny Hair Color
We said warmer hair color trends are taking over in 2014 and we meant it! If the darker reds aren’t an option, why not suggest a full on copper color!?
Bella Thorn and Rachel McAdams’ copper penny strands certainly grab attention and help bring added warmth to their cool pale skin tones.
Peek-a-boo panels are characterized by their strong color blocking. For example, one underside of the hair could be pastel pink, with the other 70% of the hair being an icy cool blonde.
However, these panels can also be done with natural colors, so feel free to try out different combinations depending on your clients style.
