Is Your Goal Healthy Hair?

Walking through the doors of a traditional salon, clients are often met with the smell of ammonia and a host of other harsh chemicals they will inhale for the duration of their so called ‘relaxing’ experience.
Hair dye might be one of the most toxic beauty products out there.  But how bad is it? Ask yourself, how can something that smells so toxic be safe?
Some experts estimate 75 percent of women over 40 color their hair, which means consistent contact with harsh irritants and carcinogens, such as ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, and coal tar–derived p-Phenylenediamine.

Adolescent girls are beginning to color their hair younger than ever.  The toxic fumes and chemicals in hair dyes are especially dangerous for pregnant women and young girls who are going through puberty since these chemicals mimic hormones in the body and can send their endocrine system into major confusion.
What’s the alternative?  Composure Organic Hair Color Salon offers natural hair color services free from toxic fumes and dangerous chemicals. Our color systems will help you look and feel your best while never having to worry about compromising your health.

Composure uses Organic Color Systems in our natural hair color processes.
Organic Color Systems contains no ammonia, formaldehyde, sodium laurel sulphates or parabens. What it does contain are good-for-you ingredients like a full spectrum of vitamins and plant extracts, certified organic ingredients and anti-oxidants. The line is cruelty free, vegan, and eco friendly.

And a bit more science "stuff" in case you wanted to know:

"The most common name for PPDs is Paraphenylenediamine. It is a dying agent derived from coal tar, and is found in higher concentrations in darker colors. Many people may will develop a sensitivity to PPD over time, or already are sensitive to it. What you should also be aware of is PPD's similir cousin, PTD. Many hair dyes claim to be 'PPD-free', but add PTD instead. In fact, more PTDs are needed to do the same job as PPDs, so you really must be aware of your own sensitivity. To our knowledge (and we check regulary), there is no PERMANENT hair color line that doesn't have PPD or PTDs. What is even more outraging, is many color companies will not disclose their ingredient list - look out for that. Our color does have traces of PPDs in our darkest color. On average, we have about .6% and other permanent professional hair colors have 6-9%." ~ Organic Color Systems
